A practical way for two people to pick a horror movie without spending the whole evening choosing.
Agree on boundaries before titles
Start with the mood and the limits: funny or serious, familiar or new, graphic or restrained, and how late you want to stay up. A veto is a boundary, not a review. A person can admire a film and still not want to watch it tonight. Content notes are incomplete for many titles, so check a trusted parental guide before treating an unknown flag as safe.
Nominate three films each
In Last Light, create a private Coven and share its invitation with your partner. Each person nominates up to three candidates for this particular evening. Vote yes on every title you would happily watch, rather than only your favourite. Mutual yeses reveal a useful overlap even when your first choices are different.
Turn the overlap into a decision
If several films have a yes from everyone, choose the shortest for a work night, the earliest release for a historical double bill, or alternate who breaks the tie. Save the agreed film to the shared lineup. If there are no mutual yeses, change the brief—perhaps horror comedy instead of bleak supernatural horror—before adding twenty more titles.
Keep your opinions afterwards
Shared plans do not require shared ratings. Log the film in each person’s own library and compare favourites later. You can also keep your countdown entirely private. Collaboration is there for the moment it helps, not as a requirement for using the app.
