Build a horror marathon people will finish.
Programme the room, the running time, and the interval—not just three films you happen to love.
Count the whole evening
Three 100-minute films are five hours before anyone talks, orders food, or takes a break. For a four-hour evening, two films and an interval are usually a better plan. In Last Light, assign several movies to the same calendar date and set the exact order yourself. The plan can be a single night or an entire season.
Use a thread and a contrast
A good double bill gives you something to compare. Pair a confined setting with an open landscape, a straight horror film with a comedy, or two directors answering the same question. Alien followed by The Thing is a dense, creature-driven pairing; do not mistake it for a light background party programme.
Put the demanding film where attention is highest
A slow, quiet film often works better first, before the room becomes restless. A lively rewatch can close the night. Let each guest know the expected intensity beforehand and allow an easy opt-out. The programme serves the people in the room, including the person who loves horror less than you do.
